This is what my beloved Nikon D3S looks like after a year and a half of daily use. For the past 1.5 years, there were no major problem with the camera, only rubber peeling off. Nikon could have made the paint a bit tougher though. I have rubbed off paint on many spots of the camera. The battery that originally came with the camera no longer hold charge at full capacity. What used to last for days now only last for almost a day with a GPS constantly draining its power. I don’t really worry about the battery life that much since I have two more spares that could have gotten me through a week without charge easily.
I haven’t been easy on the camera either. Not that I bang it around. Getting the picture is more important than worry about scratching the camera. This is a professional equipment that was design to hold up to daily usage of professional photographer. I’ve regularly shot weddings, corporate events, news related stuff with it and it’s performed wonderfully.
Why do I cover the logo and model with black tape? Simple answer is “I dont want people to read my camera
“
I also have a GPS always connected to the camera. Every time I take a picture, a GPS coordinate is automatically embedded into an EXIF data of that picture so I know exactly where that picture was taken.
